WorldRemit is a London based online money transfer platform, popular with expatriate and migrant workers.
There are multiple methods for sending and receiving funds, for example a sender can send money to be received via cash pickup, bank deposit, mobile money or an airtime topup. According to the website, funds can be sent from about 50 countries to over 140, with the mobile money option available for approximately 80 countries.
Similar to other international payment companies, the payments are instant due to a presence in each supported country.
It is worth noting that while there are a vast number of countries supported, not all support each of the previously mentioned delivery methods. Some countries only support, for example, airtime topup, cash pickup or bank transfer.
The fees for destination countries vary in many ways. It appears that the fees can be either fixed or based on some kind of sliding scale depending on transfer amount. After a quick review of some destinations and delivery methods we noted that bank deposits typically have low fees whereas cash pickups can be more expensive, again, depdending on the destination.
